Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between an electric wheelchair and a powered wheelchair?
There isn't really one — 'electric wheelchair', 'powered wheelchair' and 'power chair' all describe the same thing: a battery-powered wheelchair with joystick control. The XSTO M4 is all of the above, with the added benefit of self-balancing technology.
Is the M4 a lightweight electric wheelchair?
The M4 weighs around 40 kg and folds into three lighter pieces, making it one of the most transportable self-balancing electric wheelchairs on the UK market. It fits in a standard car boot for trips, holidays and day-to-day mobility.
How long does an electric wheelchair battery last?
The XSTO M4 has up to 15 km of range per charge — comfortably a full day of typical use. Batteries fully recharge from a standard UK mains socket overnight.
Can I use an electric wheelchair outdoors in the rain?
The M4 is IPX4 rated, so it's protected against splashes from any direction — safe for everyday UK weather. We recommend storing it dry where possible to extend battery life.
Is VAT relief available on electric wheelchairs?
Yes — qualifying disabled buyers can claim 0% VAT under HMRC Notice 701/7. You complete a short declaration at checkout and we apply VAT relief automatically. Free next-day UK delivery and a 2-year warranty are included on every order.
